McNally's Irish Pub

Hi all! Since Late Night has come out, I've been busy playing with vampires and building night clubs. I've decided to release a set of themed bars and clubs. The first here is McNally's Irish Pub. It was built on a 20x30 lot in Twinbrook. It features 2 bars (one upstairs, one downstairs), a game room, bathrooms, a patio, dance floor (upstairs), an out door stage and an indoor stage (upstairs) for your Sims to jam out on.

I didn't use any CC except for the doors which are by Mutske from TSR. I know, I know, TSR is evil blah blah blah. Anyway, they are subscriber doors, which I checked the Booty for but could not find. I provided a link for them at the bottom of the page.

I hope you enjoy this lot and will stop back to see what other themed bars I have in store for you all!

I've been reading some of the comments I got on my last blog where I pretty much said "screw this" and started thinking to myself that there were some good points made. I still stand by what I said in the previous post about a lot of the community being whiny brats, but I see that there are more positive supportive people than I thought there were.

So, that said, I've decided to reopen this blog and continue creating. I don't think I'll be doing celebrity or character Sims anymore (unless I come up with something amazing, or if I get a request). Instead I'll probably just focus on creating unique Sims, homes, patterns, and maybe tattoos for Ambitions if I can figure out how to make them fully recolorable. Apparently I'm retarded when it comes to alpha channels because no matter how many times I read tutorials, I just get lost. It's like greek to me.

Thank you to my followers for the lovely comments, you left. You guys changed my mind and inspired me to keep creating. I'll probably be changing the name of this blog, I'm not sure what I will call it. If you guys have any suggestions, please shout them out in the comments :)

Oh Why Bother

I've decided to not really bother with this blog anymore. I've pretty much figured out that 90% of the Sims community are snotty little trolls. With the exception of a few great creators and other community members who have given encouragement and shown compassion, I have no desire what-so-ever to be a part of this community anymore.

I'm sick of favoritism and whiny little brats who have no appreciation for the hard work that creators put into their projects. I just simply cannot stand this community. I can't even read the comments on MS3B anymore because the comments section is being taken over by twelve year old punks that just want "moar hairz lulz!!! :) :) :)" I wish people would teach their kids to grow the fuck up already. I wish there were more mature youngsters out there. I've seen a couple here and there, but they're few and far in between.

I'm sick of the bitching and the ranting about the game, I'm sick of people whining about it and how much it sucks. If ya don't like the game, don't play it. It's really that simple.

I'll leave the blog up so people can access Ahmad's sliders (even though you can also find them at LadyFrontBum's Blog) and in case anyone ever wants to download something, but I'll probably stop updating. Unless I make something that I feel must be shared with the people I actually give a damn about, I wouldn't count on any updates.

A Rant on MTS and Other Things That Piss Me Off

I need to get this off my chest. If you don't like what I have to say, I don't care. So leaving nasty comments will get you no where.

I am so sick of MTS it's not even funny. Every day I see the same old creator's get their work uploaded and new creator's get their work rejected. I'm not saying this because I got something rejected (which I have and I don't actually care because it was crap anyway), but because of one particular creator who keeps getting shafted by the staff at MTS. He made some amazing things lately and all they do is criticize him and cut him down. They insult his use of the English language and say it is unacceptable, but then I see creations uploaded with horrible English and spelling errors.

He spent at least 2 months now making a great looking Sim and following the advice in the Creator Feedback forum and she hasn't been uploaded. It's been like, 12 days and I haven't seen her on the site. Meanwhile people who have sent their creations off to be uploaded 3 days ago have their creations up already. I don't know if he has heard anything either way, but I would not put it past the MTS staff to just ignore him completely.

The staff plays favorites. They deny that, but they do. It doesn't matter how run of the mill a lipstick or eyeshadow (for example) is, if it was made by one of the favored creators who have kissed ass to the MTS mods, it will be uploaded.

Lets not even go near the fact that 75% of the time MTS is down or so incredibly slow that you can't even navigate the site. I realize that they have to use cheap servers to keep the cost down, but come on. You're one of the biggest Sims sites on the web, ya can't fork over a little extra cash to keep it running properly?

People at MTS criticize TSR, but at least TSR lets everyone upload. They don't hold double standards when it comes to quality. They appreciate that people took the time to share with the community at all where as MTS are a bunch of snobs and only allow the "best" work to be displayed at their site. The best work? Yeah, ok. I've seen stuff uploaded on there that is far from superior. Why? Because it was created by member who got on the staff's good side.

They bitch at certain people for double posting in the forums, but when one of the favored members does it, it goes unpunished. It's bullshit.

And I swear if I see one more Angelina Jolie Sim I'm going to cry. There are so many other celebrities, why does everyone seem to have to do a version of her? "Oh she's so beautiful!" Yea, if you consider sickly skinny as beautiful. I liked her when she wasn't full of herself and didn't think she was hot shit. Seriously, can we see some Sims of James Dean or Elvis Presley? That would be interesting! Hell, I'd settle on a Sim of Katie Holmes just for a little variety! How about Nicholas Cage or Monica Bellucci? No? I didn't think so.

Lastly, what is with people bitching about how shitty TS3 is compared to TS2? Do people realize that TS2 had multiple expansion packs and stuff packs to get it where it was? When it first came out, there wasn't that much included with it either. I've been hearing a lot of "TS3 doesn't have a piano! It doesn't have a diving board! It doesn't have a slide! Why aren't there any pets? I wish it had seasons!" Hey, wake up and realize that most of that shit came with TS2 expansion packs! TS3 hasn't even been out for a year, what do you expect?! If you're so sick of TS3, uninstall it and start playing TS2 again. Quit bitching about what the game doesn't have and realize that it has WAY more customization ability right off the bat than TS2 EVER had. With TS3 we don't have to download recolors of objects or clothing. And to the people bitching about how you can't change stupid piddly things like the shape of a Sim's earlobe, get a life! It's a GAME! Use your imagination!

For Those Having Trouble With CC and the 1.8/2.3 Patch

I noticed at the TS3 official forums, a LOT of people are having problems with CC and the 1.8/2.3 patch. Luckily, there is a relatively simple work around that was discovered at MATY and posted by coconnor. Since you can't post links to MATY on the forums there, I've decided to write up the instructions here for those struggling. This fix works on both Mac and PC. I know it's long, but if you print these directions it'll make your life a lot easier. Follow them step for step and you should have all of your content working again!

1. Start over. Back up your "Downloads, "Saves," "SavedSims," and "Packages" folder (If you have one).

2. Uninstall TS3 and WA

3. Reinstall TS3 and WA. DO NOT PATCH!!! If you are asked to patch DURING WA install, that's fine, but DO NOT PATCH AFTER INSTALL

4. Copy the contents (EXCEPT RIVERVIEW) of your old "Downloads" folder into the newly created "Downloads" folder in

C:/Users/YOUR USERNAME/Documents/Electronic Arts

(Mac: /YOUR USERNAME/Documents/Electronic Arts)

If a downloads folder doesn't exist yet, create one yourself. It MUST say "Downloads" just as I have written it.

5. Open the launcher DO NOT PATCH!!! If it asks you to, click "cancel." You should now be running launcher version 2.0.86

6. Click "Downloads," then "Select all," and "Install"

7. Fire up the game and make sure all your CC is there

8. Once you've checked things over, quit the game (you don't have to save)

9. Open the launcher and patch your game (gasp! shock!)

10. Get a copy of "d3dx9_31.dll" and "resource.cfg" You can find those HERE. Just click on "framework.zip" in the first post.

11. Paste a copy of "d3dx9_31.dll" (found in the "framework.zip" file under Game/Bin) into BOTH of these directories directory:

C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin

AND

C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/World Adventures/Game/Bin

Mac: /Applications/The Sims 3.localized/TheSims3.app/Contents/

Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims3

/Game/Bin

AND

/Applications/The Sims 3.localized/TheSims3.app/Contents/

Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims3 World Adventures/Game/Bin

(To get to the Mac directories: Open Applications, Open "The Sims 3" folder, right click "The Sims 3" icon, click "Show package contents" and go from there)

12. Once you have done those steps, put the "resource.cfg" file in

C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/World Adventures

Mac:/Applications/The Sims 3.localized/TheSims3.app/Contents/

Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims3 World Adventures

13. Open the "resource.cfg" file with Notepad or TextEdit and delete what you see there. Then add the following text:

14. Save the newly edited "resource.cfg"

15. Create a folder called "Mods" in your World Adventures base folder and then create a folder called "Packages" inside the "Mods" folder you just created. The folders must be named exactly the way I have written them.

16. Open your DCCache folder and copy the contents into the newly created "Packages" folder. The DCCache folder can be found in the following directory:

C:/Users/YOUR USERNAME/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3

Mac: /YOUR USERNAME/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3

17. If you previously had CC in an old "Packages" folder that you backed up before we started, open that up and copy and paste the contents into the new "Packages" folder. You may also now put your backed up "Saves" and "SavedSims" folder back where they belong.

18. Fire up the game and make sure all of your CC is there. If it is, great! You've done everything correctly! If not, you probably missed a step somewhere.

NOTE: If you are still running off one of the old patches, follow the instructions after Step 9 and you should be fine seeing as how the CC was previously installed.

TrueBlood Sims - Sookie Stackhouse

Today I give you Sookie Stackhouse, the telepathic barmaid from Bon Temps, Louisiana. When she's not waitressing at Merlotte's Bar and Grill, she enjoys reading, sunbathing, and spending time with her vampire boyfriend, Bill Compton. Sookie is portrayed by Anna Paquin in the hit HBO series TrueBlood, but this Sim is a collaboration of both Anna Paquin and the Sookie that I envisioned from the book series by Charlaine Harris.

True Blood Sims - Eric Northman

I've decided to start a series of TrueBlood Sims. For those of you that don't know, TrueBlood is the hit HBO series based off the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. The series centers around a telepathic barmaid named Sookie. One night, while waiting tables at Merlotte's, a vampire walks in and Sookie's life changes forever.

One of the characters (and my personal favorite) in the series is a one thousand year old vampire named Eric Northman. He runs a touristy vampire bar called Fangtasia in the next town over from Bon Temps (where most of the story takes place). In the HBO series, Eric is portrayed by Alexander Skarsgard, and that's who his Sim is based off of.

Eric uses a custom face mask. It will show up under Costume Make Up. You will know it when you see it because it's the one with the line down the center of the chin. The .rar file contains two (2) separate files; "EricNorthman1.sim" (which goes directly in your SavedSims folder), and "ericfacemasknew.package" (which goes in your Mods/Packages folder). You will need both of these files to get Eric to work right!

Every man says his home is his castle, well this time we mean that literally. Facial Sliders by Ahmad (bella3lek4 of MTS)

Hello everyone! Today's update is a featured item by my friend Ahmad. He created some AMAZING facial sliders for TS3 and is having some trouble getting them approved at MTS. I offered to host his sliders at my blog so everyone can have access to them while he goes through the approval process.

These work flawlessly with the base game AND World Adventures, so I recommend everyone give them a try! All you have to do to install is open the zip file and extract the sliders you want in your game to your Packages folder.

If you already have other sliders in your game you will NEED a hack that allows more sliders per section! Otherwise some of your other sliders will stop working. You can use AwesomeMod or S3Z's increased slider hack to do this.

Edit: Since some people were having trouble with the MediaFire site that the download is hosted at, I have also provided a ZShare download link as well. I hope this helps those people who were having trouble out. Thank you for bringing it to my attention!
